Information On Sustainability Legislation - Western Australia

In June 2021, to reduce plastic pollution, the WA Government announced new regulations relating to disposable plastics.

The roll out of these regulations is a two-stage approach.

The first stage is effective from 1st July 2022 and is a ban on single use and disposable plastic items, the Amscan products in this category include:

- Disposable plastic utensils (straws, stirrers and cutlery)

- Disposable plastic foodware without lids (plates and bowls)

- Disposable paper plates in all available sizes (banquet, lunch and dessert)

The second stage will be effective from 1st October 2022, and the Amscan products included are:

- Disposable plastic cups for cold drinks

Amscan will only ship products to WA that are compliant with the new regulations, any items that are ordered which do not align with the regulations for WA will be removed from orders.

Amscan has a wide range of products the majority of which are compliant with the new WA regulations. While the constantly evolving legislation around sustainability presents its challenges, we are taking a proactive approach with product development and research.

Given that we range a signficant number of items which fall into the above categories, for customers whose registered address with us is in Western Australia, if items on the banned list are ordered, they will be excluded on the order and will not be sent.
